Live from Pemberley Interview

It was so wonderful to talk with Ariana Nedelman and Lauren Sandler this week about fallen women in nineteenth-century fiction. They reached out to me because of research I’ve done and published over the years (including my dissertation, which anyone can read for free here on fallen women and the British Empire) because they wanted to talk about Lydia as purportedly “lost forever” in Pride and Prejudice.

Lauren and Vanessa Zoltan host the show, and every other week they take a deep dive into a couple of chapters from Austen’s novel. If you’re a fan of Austen, you definitely need to listen. It’s like eavesdropping on a graduate seminar with two people who really enjoy each other.

You can learn about Live from Pemberley here and see their run of episodes featuring top-notch scholars like Sandra Macpherson, Talia Shaffer, and Deidre Lynch. My interview is at the end of the episode, “Mr. Wickham and Our Poor Lydia.”
